英語是補教老師唯一認為簡單的科目。英語科出題生活化，除了每年必考的地圖問路、天氣，還有流行音樂排行榜、歌詞、知名舞蹈家鄧肯的傳記。
補教老師路呈麟說，第一次基測閱讀測驗難度較高，二次基測反而是單選題潛藏陷阱，諸如第三、十三題文法易混淆，第十一、十七題則考hand和excuse較不常用的動詞意思，學生只要具中等程度，且有耐心、細心，都有機會得高分。
